Melissa Minger Swanson DMD,FAGD

Dr. Swanson focuses on treating patients with Complex Esthetic issues, TMJ disorders and Occlusal issues, Airway Health, Wellness, and Preventive Care. She is a residency-trained general dentist with an emphasis on advanced comprehensive adult care. Her passion for dentistry shines through her detailed work, the genuine care with which she treats her patients, and her love of working with interdisciplinary teams.

Committed to excellence, Dr. Swanson completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency at the University of Florida College of Dentistry. She is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry and has completed the curriculum at the Dawson Academy, Spear Education and is a Kois Center Graduate. Dr. Swanson is involved in multiple national study clubs that focus on interdisciplinary cases and treatment.

Prior to joining Expertise Dental, Dr. Swanson practiced in La Jolla, California for 10 years owning and working in her dental practice that focused on regenerative and restorative care. She became an expert in treating multidisciplinary complex cases, dental implants, occlusion, and restorative care while completing her residency. She enjoys using state-of-the-art technology to evaluate and treat TMD, craniofacial growth, and airway issues. Completing a Sleep Medicine residency at the University of the Pacific in San Francisco in 2016 allowed her to incorporate working with physicians and multidisciplinary groups to address breathing issues, airway health and overall wellness into her practice.

She believes treatment should start with a thorough comprehensive exam that includes all aspects of esthetics and function, identifying issues and concerns, and becoming your partner in wellness, function, and beauty. Rest assured that Dr. Swanson will provide dental care with kindness, integrity, and empathy.

Dr. Swanson and her husband Brit are excited to return to her roots in South Carolina and join Expertise Dental with Dr. Seay. Dr. Swanson loves to travel, mentor, participate in dental missions, and spend time with family and friends. She is truly grateful to love what she does and it is her pleasure to take care of her patients and their needs.
